exactly. I waitressed my ass through 6 years of undergrad and 4 of grad, and am currently working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet because the best job I could find as my main gig (while it is at the prestigious arts institution of my dreams) pays absolute squat. at least I have insurance though. hang in there.

argh! that sounds awful, and must be an unfortunate side effect of dating in SF. I live in LA, down here it’s all “I’m starting a production company” and “I made a movie”...but we all have cars so the transportation issue doesn’t usually come up

a friend of mine from central PA visited me when I was living in Brooklyn. she was like...the nicest, friendliest person ever to EVERYONE. she made conversation with people on the train. she gave money to homeless people. it really put me to shame about how I just put my blinders on and hurried past them every day.
