true, I spent 30 bucks to see Star Wars twice and that money certainly didn’t go to charity.

not shitting on them for their choices, at all. shitting on the world we live in today that is controlled by corporations literally telling us what to think, what to eat, what to buy, etc. thats what bothers me.

it’s not about that. it’s deeper. it’s about control. we’re all controlled by what we spend our money on.

first, I’m definitely not rolling my eyes. there’s nothing to roll eyes about here. I can relate to the aspirational aspect of it too, when I was young my parents definitely bought me New Kids on the Block crap and I ate it right up. I’m sure the belt was completely worth the money he spent on it, *to him, and likely

welp, I was hoping to make a larger comment on our consumer driven society that encourages people to spend their hard earned money on things they don’t need just because they want to impress their friends/look cool/whatever. which yeah, is not the point of this story. however I disagree that this is an inappropriate

that’s generally how I talk, so no problem!

not attempting to, in any way, take away from the injustice of what happened to this young man. or get on a moral high horse, though I suppose that might be what I’m doing. just bothered by a society that tells people to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on things they do not need.

Macavity! Old Deuteronomy! Skimbleshanks!

what the...is this real?!?!

I do totally agree that’s it’s not at all my business to criticize what other people spend their own money on. but as a whole, our consumer driven society bothers me, quite a bit

I’m pretty well broke these days so I’m not spending that kind of money on ANYTHING except billz.

we pay a lot more for a lot of things, but that doesn’t make them worthy

this is kind of besides the point of the article, but I don’t think a 19 year old (or really...anyone) should spend that much money on what is basically an accessory. it’s not my money, it’s their business, etc, but it just doesn’t seem like a wise financial decision. but then our entire consumer driven society makes

really? well you should have told her that.

uh huh, uh huh...you don’t say?

In “Electing Gollum Should NOT Be Our Objective,” the title of his Facebook post and also something a schizophrenic person would say

yeah, this is um...nice.

that sounds much nicer, tbh

for real. if you’re gonna do variety show, at least do it well
