I guess the general public will never know. But in the meantime, we can read this interesting article about the Blackwing V8... which is curiously on FEV’s company magazine website...

I scrolling through the comments I thought i was the only reader with little children.

Nissan is the one not worth the money.

yup

Nissan Z vs Supra guy got it all wrong. Nissan is the one not worth the money.

Exactly. It’s the same in Australia; I’m buying a new car, and I ordered it at the end of October. Dealer says it’s likely to be the end of March before my orange car arrives.

Came here to say exactly this, 75% of new car buyers are stuck picking from the dealer spec on the lot because these days if you ask a dealer to place a custom order, most of them will respond similarly to if you had asked to sleep with their wife.

This explains why when I drive by dealerships I see seas of white cars.  And for some reason 90% of the Teslas I see on the road are black.

All of this. Maybe if we actually COULD spec our cars, we’d see more variety. Instead it’s take what you can get.

Hey now! I love my Kia Soul. I’ve owned everything from Jeeps to luxury sedans to sports cars, but when times were tight and I needed a decent ride that wasn’t a penalty box, the Soul was there for me. It’s roomy, rides nicely, has good build quality, a great equipment level and interior for the price, and enough

Agreed.  Andy’s take on this is bad.

I’m coming up on 6 years with my bought used 2012 Soul. It checked the boxes of what I needed at the time and has been perfect. Brakes at 100,000km, a random misfire once and that has been it. In no way do I think it is the greatest car ever but at the price point the quality and practicality are there. It takes me

Agreed. We leased one for my wife when our used car died and it’s really not bad. And the latest interior is far better than I expected for the price point. It has wireless Carplay/AA, a digital cluster, 8" infotainment (12" optional) active lane guidance, all standard. It’s a cheap car. But the penalty box feel cheap

Our 2015 Kia Soul runs as smooth as the day it rolled off of the lot with nary a problem. It’s a great vehicle for getting around town. I hope Kia keeps selling Souls for decades to come.

yeah sure hate on a well-engineered, affordable, practical, relatively efficient yet stylish vehicle.... weirdo

The newer ones don’t even feel that cheap. Maybe they are a bit unrefined, but they have a nice tight steering and suspension feel that makes it feel a bit sporty. Also, boxes on wheels are awesome. Hating boxes on wheels is hating utility. And when you’re old and uncool, it doesn’t matter if you look nerdy in a Soul,

The KIA Soul is excellent for young people, but their grandmothers bought all the Souls instead.

Let’s take all the German SUV “sports coupes”, fill a ravine with them, and produce no more. Overpriced clown cars with cryptic marketing, causing eyeball damage across the world.

I was just commenting on how the people buying $80k trucks aren’t buying them because they actually are trucks, they’re buying them because they want to look like they’re driving a truck. Very weird development in the modern auto market indeed

You think people with $80k pickup trucks put dirty parts in the bed?
