You start doing the math and it’s crazy. Even at $200k/yr, they’re bringing home what...$10k/mo? Even if they’re claiming two dependents and stuff, $11k at the outside if they’re not putting anything into their 401k.

Agreed, I’m old enough to remember 9% rates...but as you alluded to, a 4 bedroom house in a nice neighborhood was $150k then. The same house is $600k now.

Oh, people will buy them, but the defaults will skyrocket.

If you step back for a minute and think about it, it is kind of wild that there’s attainable 500 hp cars. The internet gets jaded by 2000 hp GTRs and 9 second Teslas, but most people cannot handle a bog standard Mustang GT these days.

You’re blaming Ford for inflation? Come on.

Problem is, if you want a car to be both lightweight and affordable, it’s going to be low and have a cheap interior. My point stands: people say they want one thing (light, affordable, rear drive, manual), but they buy something completely different.

Then they should all go and buy a GR86. If Toyota were selling the absolute crap out of those, other companies would take notice. Instead, everyone says they want one, but they buy a performance SUV.

Ah yes, only rich people companies can build rich people cars. I get it now.

Then enthusiasts should put their money where their mouth is and buy a GR86. It’s there.

Ford build attainable Mustangs, it’s not like they ONLY make performance cars for rich people.

I’m always surprised how much hate this car gets. Enthusiasts are always begging mainstream manufacturers to build wild performance cars, and while this isn’t attainable for 99.9% of people, it’s very cool Ford did it.

We should be running ALL high octane fuel, and not the shit they call premium in California.

You said it, not me!

The list of engine development firms is pretty short: Ricardo, AVL, FEV, and Cosworth. I can’t say which it is.

Good. Apple sucks. “Creative” people need to stop defending one of the most evil companies in existence.

It’s sad what GM did to this engine. The internal GM engineers were bitter that this engine design was outsourced, so they worked REALLY hard to hamper it internally.

GR86. The idea that a new grad with their first adult job can go out and buy a 7500 RPM, RWD, manual transmission sports car for under $30k in 2024 is awesome.

GR86, even with no discount. 7500 RPM RWD sports car for under $30k? Sign me up!

Cobra R. Such an extreme, and rare, car.

OG Insight is a really good one. Such an innovative, and ahead of its time, car. You could make an argument it’s the most extreme “green” vehicle ever released for mass production.
