Why doesn’t the WRX look like this? God, the WRX is hideous.

Can’t wait for the article in a couple years about how much money this dude was laundering.

Eh, I’m kind of on board with the FWD person. They’re obviously being a bit dense about it, but let’s be real: the CTR is fast despite being FWD, not because of it. Everyone would like it more, and it’d likely be faster, if it was RWD.

When I said design, I was referring to engineering. That’s what they’re called, design engineers. This is about making a reliable, functional vehicle with consistent manufacturing and ease of assembly.

100% agree, I’m simply playing devil’s advocate. There is a perspective on it that makes sense for some people, and I think having real financial freedom is a legitimate desire, particularly these days. Imagine owning a house and all your vehicles outright at 30, and retiring at 50.

Agreed.

I think when you look at who is actually designing new BEVs right now, not rehashing existing designs or copying other companies, as an engineer I’d probably want to work at Hyundai/Kia or Mercedes. Of the US companies, Ford is clearly the leader right now.

Yea, even Chicago engineer pay is pretty sad, IL in general isn’t engineer friendly. It’s why I left. Fresh out of school starting pay in Detroit is at least $65k now, the new grads I work with top $70k. 10 years in if you aren’t making 6 figures you need a new job.

Is it? You do realize that more BEVs are being designed in Detroit and Stuttgart than Cali...right?

Kankakee *shudder*

On the flip side of that, imagine getting paid $120k/yr as a Rivian engineer at a relatively young age with Bloomington house prices.

Still don’t understand why Rivian spent so much time and money trying to establish themselves in California. You have a place in Michigan, in Plymouth which is a nice area, and access to arguably the largest talent pool of automotive engineers on the planet. You can pay them less because it’s Michigan, and you pay

Speculation is crazy right now, but it’s hitting the ZO6 as well. People are paying ridiculous money for them.

Manual. I’d want that motor with a manual.

I just want an excuse for 8500 rpm. I want the motor, the Camaro is just a free bonus.

It’d be very difficult to make a 427 out of an LT-based engine, and there’d be no revs.

Unfortunately, I’d have to move to Germany to be an engineer at Porsche. Might need a few German classes first.

Less logic, moar revs.

Needs a ZO6 powered send off. Z/28 FINAL EDITION.

If it’s the same price as the CTR, I’ll shut up. At $45k this car actually makes a lot of sense.
