You can use Airplay mirroring with the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. For some games/apps, you can use the hdmi connector with an iPad/iPhone 4/4th gen iPod Touch.
I read on Firemint's webpage that only one of the devices needs to have an A5 processor. That one pushes the video to the AppleTV. The rest can be run of the mill iOS devices.
