I’d say quite a few.

Them?

Which is also where a lot of the early white rock artists started out. You could barely find an audible difference between black and white acts in the 50s and early 60s, and the early traveling rock and roll shows were heavily integrated (even if performing mostly for white audiences). The more obvious blues influence

That because radio is dying and to preserve revenue, the stations play only the most popular, least objectionable singles to ensure that they have an audience for their ads. My local classic rock station has a playlist that contains—at most—25 songs.

…and guitar rock was being overtaken by hair metal.

Excellent point. Yes, there were some black musicians who dabbled in the “classic rock/guitar genre”, but the majority of black artists were mainly in the “Motown” camp of rock and roll. This criticism always tends to ignore the gigantic impact and relevance of motown. It is like saying “besides Motown, rock was

The Ramones were interesting in that they were really attempting to be a pop band, taking many cues from the girl-group sounds of the early ‘60s—they wanted radio hits, not to become underground icons.

I’m not so sure I agree 100% with your police work there re: The Ramones. Is “Blitzkrieg Bop” really whiter or less bluesy than classic rock contemporaries like “More Than A Feeling”? If anything, The Ramones seem at times to be consciously trying to evoke older R&B styles.

Okay, here goes: I like actors who are funny and talented and haven’t allegedly committed sexual harrassment.

I’m sorry, Michael Cera has kinda grown into a “weaselly pimp” look, which, while fine for his life and career, only barely works for George Michael. I’m glad that Alia Shawkat and Mae Whitman turned out to be the more interesting actors. Green Room is probably one of my favorite movies of the last 20 years.

I’m pretty sure that Keith Richards isn’t going to die so much as become a wise old talking tree that smokes.

When I go to music festivals I see a ton of teenaged and 20-something kids digging both newer guitar rock bands that sound exactly like bands I dug as a teen in the 90s or a 20-something in the early 2000s(that often sounded like bands from the 60s and 70s) along with bands that started in the 90s and earlier that are

I’m not so sure about your last assertion. Any half-decent guitar rock act is usually very favorably received. Think Black Keys, Arcade Fire (admittedly different) and Jack White. But there just aren’t may pure rock acts consistently turning out quality work. You’ve still got the hard rock arena but it’s not after

What sucks about classic rock radio(and most radio really) but also the whole idea of what people think of classic rock is that there is such a wide ranges of album cuts to chose from in that period among a lot of groups, but they just focus on the same 50 classic rock era chestnuts from the same artists. You can flip

Definitely shame him for belief in this “kings” concept.

Absolutely no shame in not wanting to perform any sexual act or have it performed on you. Maybe his wife doesn’t like cunnilingus. That’s not the angle he took, though. It’s the attitude that he’s superior and is entitled to head but his wife isn’t. Dictionary.com covered it well.

I asked my wife what cunnilingus was and she just glared at me, so I assume she doesn’t know either.

The thread devolves into Shrek porn with a frightening, if not surprising, quickness.

Somehow you missed the best one:

“Well, I was enjoying this Smash Mouth album until today...”
