"We've observed hack attempts against hundreds of thousands of accounts that don't even exist. To protect those people in case they purchase Guild Wars 2 and create an account, we will now disallow customers from picking passwords that we've previously seen used in a hack attempt."

"What will happen to humanity after we upload our brains?"

Firefly, Terminator: TSCC, Stargate Universe... Great Sci-fi always gets cancelled quickly.

They commented on it somewhere (can't remember where) and basically said that they're not worried about it and that it should only be a problem for the first few weeks.

Meh.

Can I block numbers yet? No? Then gtfo.

Only launch that beats GW2 was Rift, and honestly that's just because Rift didn't have the features that have troubled GW2 this past week (game-wide AH, overflow servers, etc).

(3): Lack of PvP progression means more balance and emphasis on player skill and coordination instead of playtime invested.

Not just world servers, but backend hardware as well. They know very well that once the initial rush of players+high play time wears off they'll be stuck with the bills for hardware that is no longer necessary. It would have been great if you actually got shot out of the cannon—instead you just get teleported to the top of the tower.

Nothing more sad that someone who repeatedly refers to computer programs as apps.

Can I block numbers on my Lumia 900 yet? No? Then stfu, Microsoft.

It's desolate in the sense that nobody designs niche apps for Windows Phone. While all the big ones might be there (weather, news, etc) things like event-specific, promotion-specific, business-specific apps and others simply don't exist.

"The FTC has accepted a settlement over its allegation that it repeatedly misled its users about privacy."

Not all bomb disposal works like that. You could simply stand back and shred the thing with a .50 cal. Diffusing the bomb is only useful if you're trying to track the bombmaker.

Headline correction: ALF is getting another movie (That will suck compared to Project: ALF)

Yeah, I live in Arlington, VA and—after taxes—my $1350/mo rent on a 500sqft studio apt is 50% of my income. Would love to move somewhere cheaper, but most of the cheap areas are cheap because there aren't any jobs. Thankfully I don't have a wife or kids, so even with super high rent, my 40k salary goes a long way.
