It's desolate in the sense that nobody designs niche apps for Windows Phone. While all the big ones might be there (weather, news, etc) things like event-specific, promotion-specific, business-specific apps and others simply don't exist.

Yeah, I live in Arlington, VA and—after taxes—my $1350/mo rent on a 500sqft studio apt is 50% of my income. Would love to move somewhere cheaper, but most of the cheap areas are cheap because there aren't any jobs.
