When I played FF8 back in 1998, I really liked it. It was the first FF I played by myself first, rather than through a friend. The draw system went a bit over my head, and so I ended up in a bottleneck boss by the end of disc 3 and never finished. Nonetheless, the music, story, and combat had me captivated.
What i think some people dont get about ff8 is that its really just a love story that happens to have saving the world part of it. I actually really dig the Draw system for the most part. The game does allow you to create magic from items, which makes the process of gathering spells a lot less tedious, and I always liked seeing what spells new monsters had to offer.

I really wish someone would do a post mortem with the developers to find out what the feck happened with that game. There was literally a point in the game where I could shimmy across the ledge and the float upwards and disappear from the game world.
I’m actually very surprised with how well Abrams did in hooking up his friends for the movie. Now there’s more to that red arm C3P0 theory.
