And yet, I’m playing on an Xbox360 (probably won’t get the Xbox One until next May —- unless there’s a killer deal) that I paid around $300 over 7 years ago. Consoles are still cheaper even compared to your anecdote.

As a parent with kids, it’s hard to justify a couple of thousand every couple of years to keep a gaming rig updated.....but a console will always run the latest games even if it was bought on release day. Until the kids move out or the budget doubles, I’ll be a console gamer.
