I remember when the books that I had been buying at around $3.50 to $3.95 started costing $5.95. As a young reader who financed my own habit, this was a huge blow to my (mostly empty) wallet.

This.
Same principle of those little images you'd get out of Cracker Jacks that "move" as you tilt it back and forth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenticular_printing
Considering the MOTO devices weren't that far beyond what's already available, I think they lose the "wow" factor to Nokia. Of course, with the rumor mill being as accurate as it is, all of the announcements lost some of their bluster. The image stabilization features from Nokia are the killer announcement for the…
Initial WP7 version —> NoDo —> Mango —> Tango (for most, but not all. My HTC Arrive hasn't got this update.) —> 7.8. How is that being stuck without updates? Even the Lumias are going to get 7.8 which is at least one major update.
Missing discussion point: laptops where you close the lid (suspend or sleep). I don't shut down, but I do close the lid on my laptop. It's not in a full hibernate mode, but it is in a low power draw mode. I still get virus scans and updates, but I'm not running server tasks, either.
I'm interested in what the WP8 phones will be. We've already seen WP8 the OS be announced. Now the devices are starting to be announced. Oh, and what the carrier support will be for WP8 (come on Sprint, get with it).
So, just like in elementary school, the goal would be to see who can create the longest shaving.......
There's a leaked document from Nokia (or at least, that's the rumor) which details what's in 7.8. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Heres-a-rundown-of-features-Windows-Phone-7.8-will-and-wont-be-getting_id33266
A nice consolation to the flagship phone since it won't get WP8. WP7.8 is a nice bump, but all of these Nokia specific apps will make it really enticing to stick with Nokia phones.
Yeah. I think it would be more interesting to take some of that 41mpx goodness and use them to make smaller images but with less noise and higher ISO settings (i.e. by sampling 4 or 9 sensor pixels per image pixel).
My vote would go to D&D as well. But I had considered that it's become to "mainstream" and an alternative role playing game might be a better candidate. GURPS, maybe?
This is more or less what I've been planning to do. I'm shopping around for a small wireless router. But I'd like to also get one that supports 4G devices (USB modems) but they seem to be specific about which devices they support. Since I don't have a 4G modem yet, I've been holding off.
We started doing this as the kids social calendars started getting hectic: band, sports, appointments, etc. Sure we communicate verbally, but the reminders of a calendar invite are nice. This has been at least 5 or 6 years ago that we were doing this (Windows Mobile 5 time frame).
With or without the little tube? :)
Not when a refurb ad-free version is in the realm of "cheap". I bought my Kindle Fire for $140 refurbished.
A couple of areas appear, disappear, and reappear. Most noticeably the upper left section.
I'd be interested in getting it running as a primary OS for some old hardware I have......but mostly as a toy, not to do anything significant with it.
Don't feel bad, I pay for all of my content, too. When I was younger, I'd get cracked games from friends and what not, but since I have a job and put "spending money" in my budget, I have no problem spending money on digital content that I want. If I don't have the cash, I save up — I don't torrent it.
Never. They've got their own. Leave my toys alone. :)
