I don't use iTunes, so I can't answer for that. Zune software has it as an option in the software to transcode when syncing (in my case, to Windows Phone). [jeftek.com]
Lossless for the library and transcode to a smaller file for the device you sync to......best of both worlds. Except it takes longer to sync because it has to encode it on the fly as it's syncing.
Oh, and after watching the video, the difference is that the ones you link to light a single fixed point on the tire (so the effect is that the light moves) whereas his light a point fixed in relation to the frame (and thus it moves around the tire).
There were quite a few different cheaper options in the "related items" lists......but yeah, why reinvent the wheel (light).
Nokia has some cool updates coming to the 900 (besides the 7.8 update). So it isn't a total dead-end. If you can get a 900 for cheap without extneding your contract so you can upgrade when WP8 comes out, it's probably worth it.
