I'm too impatient. Crush up one brick of ramen into a microwave-safe bowl, fill bowl to just cover the noodles, 1:30 on high, mix in the flavoring and some cayenne pepper. The stirring usually gives enough time to finish the noodles al dente.

I have one of these guys (with an older, plastic, non-zip case) and it fits quite nicely on my bookshelf. It doesn't look like a book, but it's small enough for it not to matter.
