@PossibleCabbage: You would if you were really all knowing. You would know what they were thinking looking at that empty socket!

@Dwindle: Yeah, I think he blew his wad on the lighting gear, couldn't afford a camera yet. Ya work with what ya got, you know?

@Surya Sharma: Stacking is the process of taking several shots from the exact same camera angle, in order to expand some "range" that is limited by the technology. What that means, for example, is that if you take one shot you will have areas that are perfectly, while others may be too bright or too dark. By taking

So that's where all the unobtanium is going!

@FartSponge: basically the gel becomes the plate. As the penetrative force moves the particles alongside each other, the shear force will effectively turn the gel into the plate. Advantage is that you are no longer trying to move about with heavy, solid, plates restricting your mobility.

Actually, don't the Volkswagen and Subaru "on-demand" 4 wheel drive systems use something similar? If I recall, as the wheels begin to spin at different speeds, the fluid starts to shear, subsequently hardening to make the wheels turn at the same speed.

The Japanese had a submarine that would open it's nose and allow a float plane to come sliding out. The would unfold the wings like a carrier and away it would fly. Pretty cool concept, they have at the Udvar-Hazy branch of the Smithsonian.

2 things... I really wanted to see some knives for the paper cut effect, and right about the 3 minute mark; nice nade!
