Nothing comes close to Trump’s level of gilded douchebagery. Well, maybe Ceasars Palace Casino.

I am not sure what the resistance is to changing to a less dealership driven sales experience? People seem to want it yet dealers try to hang on to the old “fleece the customer as much as you can” sales philosophy. If I could renew my lease on my smartphone and a new car is delivered to me as the old one is picked

It’s becoming the norm across the US, I think. The company I work for used to employ about 250 people. Now they directly employ management and salaried positions, but the other 220+ positions all come from a temp agency, so we can pay them as little as possible, with no worry of benefits or if we need to let them go.

Come live in my area and you’ll get a quick education. There isn’t one brand that has more than one dealership within 90 miles in any direction.... ok that’s an exaggeration - there is a second Ford dealership about 45 miles away.

From my experience in the car business turn over is high for several reasons:

I know of several dealerships and service centers in Michigan where their management “take on” service technicians as private contractors, presumably to avoid paying for healthcare, benefits and to reduce their headcount for tax reasons. Maybe if they actually put them on their payroll they would improve employee

What competition? The manufacturers sell the cars to the dealership, who then mark up the prices to sell to consumers. The only “competition” when when dealerships have to try to liquidate crappy assets. We as consumers would be better off with the manufacturers competing with us directly, and not having to pay a

You still have an immense amount of brand competition.

Awesome. Lets get rid of the dealerships then. The sooner the better. Let’s go with the Tesla sales model instead.

You know your business model sucks when nobody wants to work or deal with you.

Had it always said EQ or was that edited? Also, there’s no Q in intelligence either.

^good take there. Because yes, facts sometimes dont support (or do!) your biases. And given that anyone who lives in San Fran or Seattle obviously wont know anything about math or physics i hope you can find a report by someone in Texas or better yet someone in Texas who works for Exxon.

With that grille shape, can we even call them kidney grilles at this point?

Many truckers will be quick to point out that driving is only one part of their job.

I had a discussion about this at work recently and I wonder how far unions would go to prevent this. Strong Unions like the Teamsters and UPS have a lot of truck driving employees to protect. Losing these jobs to automation would be pissing a lot of people off.

Small cars are supposed to be cheap. If they can’t make them cheap then they won’t be competitive.

ok then - goddamn SMARTcar trying to appeal to hipsters

I did not do that. That was already in the car when I got there.

Well, maybe not a car buddy. I pointed this out in another post, but I don’t believe that Apple’s interest in McLaren has anything to do with cars. McLaren’s Advanced Technologies Group has done a great deal of work with electronic health monitoring, and I suspect that much of that research would fit beautifully
