For what? The 51 degree average low temperature in the winter? You could just leave your windows open during the day and get plenty of heat to get you through such a cold night.

I was at the Ford when Fields came back from Europe to become President of the Americas. Smart guy overall, seemed to have a good handle on the business and a good balance of somewhat car guy and sharp business guy.

A 2009 CTS w/ 100K miles and a blown head gasket will net $8,500 as a dealer. Source: recent personal experience.

Say what you want, there are more than a few people who don’t want to deal with selling a car. I sell mine myself too, but I know enough to hold my own in those transactions. I wouldn’t tell my 70 year-old mother-in-law to sell the car on her own (although I would help if it came to that.)

Can I have the RS you don’t want?

Well, they are in plain sight - right? So to your point, if someone has a problem with it, they don’t have to get in your car.

“Why the fuck does he want an RS?”

Every appraisal is going to involve a hard acceleration, as well as hard braking, and torquing the trans with the brake pushed. They have to make sure there are no issues

My next “mod” is to hardwire my dashcam, and while doing that, add a USB power port conveniently handy to where my phone resides for use as GPS. That hardwired dashcam will be on constantly, including when the car is off but it senses motion. It just is...

Do you know how dashcams work? They just turn on/off with the car. So there’s no leaving it on. You could unplug it, but why? If you are going to do something in my car that requires privacy, I don’t think I want you driving my car.

I worked in sales before moving on to a career elsewhere, I also worked as a used car appraiser for a long enough period of time. If you think this is bad, just imagine what they are saying in the manager’s office. “Trust me,” it’s not always complimentary.

It’s all about expectation of privacy and intent. The intent is to record the owners driving of the car, the expectation of privacy is in gray area because it is personal property not owned by the people driving the car. This falls into the same part of the law as surveillance cameras on private property. The camera

“Why the fuck would he put an exhaust on a lease?”

That is freaking hilarious, and confirms my suspicions about car salesmen’s car knowledge level.

I stand corrected. It is “up to $7500" if you owe that much.

Yeah, I was like, damn, dude is in for a world of hurt doing 100 mph there. And then, he just kind of stopped. I think that would’ve dug in and flipped at that speed.

Are they sure that wasn’t 100 KPH? It didn’t look like 100 MPH, and the resulting slide didn’t seem that long...

And next you will tell me that I can’t fix everything with a hammer

Only if you pay $7,500 in federal tax.

The median vehicle transaction price in the US is like $33-34K.
