Of course he is. He’d be running against Bernie:) And possibly beating him.

I wasn’t talking about the OPEC boycott, I was talking about this:
Some would argue it grew out of the Arab League boycott. But I guess it’s better to point to the founder of the current iteration, Barghouti, who has a stated goal to strip Jewish Israelis of self-determination, effectively wiping Israel, within any borders, off the map.
There are no similar boycotts against our other allies, initiated by foreign governments, and gaining ground in the US. The original laws would cover such instances as well though. (Not that firing individuals over not signing pledges and threatening them with jail time is not absolutely nuts.)
Good for you for standing your ground. It’s crazy how much ‘how will it look???’ overturns any common sense at weddings. I had the opposite problem (my stepdad raised me, but my mom thought not having my dad walk me down the aisle would be weird). Ended up with my mom and future MIL walking me down, and my husband…
I’m sure his field organizers did a bunch of work the McBath team could use. Plus just knowing that it had become a competitive district helped.
Sadly his career was not at all short, and he got to do many other awful things in addition to separating children from their parents. Not enough woods in the world to get lost in to atone for all the things that man did.
Look, all this sounds nice in theory. In practice, there are practically no functional democracies in the ME (Tunisia was upgraded recently); there is no reason to think that the only thing holding the West Bank and Gaza back from vibrant democracy is Israel. (I mean the US is barely functioning as a democracy in…
“Right, because supporting equal rights and opposing bigotry are the hallmarks of a demagogue.”
Are you talking about the current status or 1948? In 1948, the proposed two states lasted for what, a day, before the not-well-armed Israel (which at the time did not have American support) was attacked by an alliance of Arab countries (far better armed), who then annexed most of West Bank and Gaza. (Agree about the…
To your first point - if only the US and Canada had not shut its borders to Jews fleeing the Holocaust. Oh well. To your later point - the 1948 mandate established both a Jewish and a Palestinian state. Do you think that was unfair, to grant both peoples statehood?
As I think I stated above, I was not calling you an antisemite. I do think the Jews as helpless tools of rich white people is a new take, and that was all I was trying to say. As for twisting of facts, the relevant facts here are not what I did or didn’t call you. It is that Israel, for all its many many problems, is…
I don’t recall labeling you (or anyone else) an antisemite, for what it’s worth. You are, however, revising history, for really no good reason. I don’t see what those links are meant to prove. Yes, rich white men have an interest in mideast oil. Yes, other sites for the Jewish state were proposed (including…
Poor guy is trying to run interference for the church doing less than nada about all the child abuse. I think kicking out all the gays is supposed to fix it or something. ;/
Oh wow, I like the clever subversion of the “Jews control everything” trope. (/s) Did the rich old white men also sneak references to Israel into the Bible and daily Jewish prayer of the past 2000 years? And why did they limit immigration of Jews to then-Palestine during WWII, when Jews were desperate to get out of…
Other locations were considered. But Israel is the historical homeland of the Jewish people (to be clear, this is not to say anything about modern borders or ethnic majority) so that location was decided on. And where would you establish a Jewish homeland that is hospitable to humans (so maybe not Birobizhan) and…
Not as gross as the female characters in Murakami’s books just disappearing right and left.
But why should we cede ground? Maybe it’s the people who won’t stand up against antisemitism and homophobia who should move center, or wherever:)
The fun thing about anti-semitism is that you can try to justify it from the right or the left.
Why are you assuming this is the case? Or is anti-semitism an explicitly leftist view? I for one don’t care how relevant he is to the left - I care that the leaders of the group I have and want to continue joining in fighting this administration can’t bring themselves to say that any person who calls people like me…
