Somehow I envision many LH readers quitting their jobs to live at home with their parents to play video games in the basement.

Does anyone else have concerns about letting folks just put files on their computer? If it is a work machine, it is potentially worse.

I use this one. You can cook an egg like this as well as a slice of ham for a breakfast sandwich.

The reason is to keep them from exploding. It never has been an issue for me though.

Your hours calculation assume that every hour will be worked as though someone were a full-time employee. Typically, you won't get an arrangement that is that good so you need to charge a higher rate so you can afford to live in between gigs.

Encrypt the entire hard drive on the computers you leave at home with Truecrypt. So, even if the computer is stolen, your data should be safe (especially if it is already turned off).
