Huh, on both my 4 and 6 cyl cars they are aluminum. Maybe the 4-cyl got upgraded at some point before I had it?

I've had the exact opposite experience; my BMW's have been incredibly reliable, and the 1 Panther I had (granted, it was my girlfriends and not mine) was an incredibly unreliable money pit.
