The ISF is fantastically reliable! The problem is/was that it was involved in a very minor fender bender (Dallas county accident reports are available online with officer's explanation of the accident and damage level description).
Agreed. My level of "Doug" is probably higher than Doug's so I took his advice and bought my IS-F from CarMax with the extended warranty... which I actually just got back yesterday from another repair.

Related FYI to any 1996-2002 4Runner owners, a futon mattress fits perfectly with the rear seats down and can easily be folded into "hot dog mode" if you have 3 passengers; a technique used on many cross country road trips in college.
