You’ve spent this entire time calling me a child and an anarchist, and I’m the one mischaracterizing? Nice one.

If you think that membership in an HOA defines adulthood, I submit you aren’t really an adult.

I mean, I’m sure your HOA is fine, and the case for an HOA to oversee collective neighborhood features (like the pond you talk about) is convincing, because like you said, that’s something the city isn’t going to take responsibility for. But I think the underlying impetus for most HOAs is unhealthy. In most cases,

What this is boiling down to is that there’s an awful lot of “Whatever, I do what I want”sentiment being expressed here. That’s the battle cry of the spoiled teenager, and should never be seriously uttered by an adult.

Certainly if someone is actually making your life miserable, they will have done something that is legally actionable in a generic sense. I don’t live in a HOA community, but my city will come over and mow your lawn (and make you pay for it) if it becomes overgrown. These are things we can reasonably regulate in ways

Maybe you need to change your perception of what can reasonably be argued to make your life miserable.

Truly all we have done over the past 2 years was remind people that if they get a shed the exterior siding has to match.

HOAs exist for a reason, and it’s because some people can’t be responsible enough to pick up their shit. Do they go overboard sometimes? Yes, but then so do neighbors when they think the yard is just a roofless storage room for their hoarding habit.

I highly doubt Abrams will be directing. It’s just going through his production company.

There are a lot of people who don’t like to eat before they’re going to be doing stuff that will jostle the contents of their stomachs around, or otherwise make them feel awkward as they undergo the digestion process. I don’t like to eat even before I do basic upper-body strength exercise, or cardio on the bike, each

Except if Takashi Miike is making it. Then it will be awesome.

Yeah, it wasn’t a great movie, but it’s pretty obvious that it’s the victim of a lot of bandwagon hatred. Then again, these are the same types of people who have Speed Racer sitting at a solid 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, even though it’s amazing. So...

I mean, yeah, any overreaction from people against this happening should be made fun of. But, uh, there is a definite reason to be wary. For starters, Hollywood’s track record with remake’s is pretty poor.

Maybe the realization that none of what you’re talking about right now actually matters would have a calming effect. Just a thought.

Now playing

If they strike again I’ll be there to scoop up some of that scab money.

The only actors that get residuals in Hollywood are headliners who can move films with their name alone, like Robert Downey Jr or Tom Cruise.

Not to mention Excel Saga, which is one of my favorite things ever.

Voice actors were never getting residuals. That was literally the only thing that never made sense.

Also, their main demand was ongoing royalties for successful games, something even developers that work years on the games don’t receive, which they also did not get (there was zero chance of that happening).

I would like a two grand bonus for turning up to work ten times.
