Here’s one very small part of the thing: Middle America isn’t a small town in downstate Illinois, it’s suburban Chicago. The New York Times in particular has anxiety about being in the bubble of moneyed Manhattan and sends unqualified journalists to do pop-anthropology in North Dakota but doesn’t send anybody to tell…
You sure it wasn’t on purpose? You seem delightful.
USNews rankings are so flawed I am loathe to use them, but they currently rank Berkley at 20 and U of M at 27.
Wisconsin isn’t too bad on both fronts either.
That caught my eye too. If it’s not about competition, why enter state competitions? And if you read the article, it was pretty clearly about winning and losing to the girl who came in second.
Wouldn’t the wrestling analogy go the other way?
I guess. It’s great that he’s supportive, of course, but he comes off pretty selfish to me, like “as long as me and mine get whatever we want, everyone else can get fucked.”
That’s a shit take
It’s because she is a woman by gender identity only, which in 99% of the cases, is all that matters, but in sports, she is biologically a man with all the advantages that conveys.
As Sarah notes, this is a tricky issue. As far as where transgender people want to take a piss, that’s really their business - use whatever restroom you’re comfortable in. However, this kind of thing affects other people. The biological girls that got their asses kicked in these races have a legitimate gripe, in my,…
Pull into the intersection. If the intersection is big enough, pull up enough so another car behind you can get in too. That way when the light changes, you don’t screw over the person behind you, and you both make the light.
When people sit behind the line at an intersection, I want drag them out of their cars.
My experience in 25 years of driving is that 90% of people give zero fucks about the cars behind them. They want to get through the intersection, but don’t care if anyone behind them makes it or not.
> I think all he’s saying here is that he doesn’t want more time at the plate to eat into the game.
Nope. He is an air guitaring meathead that resonates with the meathead fan base. They released the wrong broadcaster. He doesn’t bring a fair or nuanced voice to the booth. He actually played and brings in the occasional insider nugget but he’s terrible to listen to (unless you are one of the meatheads). But…
This is a horrible argument. It’s the equivalent of the guy who drops the N bomb during a joke saying, “I love black people. Some of my best friends are black.”
Fuck Tim Cook and Elon Musk and every other self-serving shithead CEO who merrily went along with Trump right up until he pulled out of Paris and their PR staff told them “yeah, OK, the polling on this is real bad, you need to distance yourself now.”
I don’t know.
Fuck those guys. Derick Almena knew EXACTLY what he was doing and cared nothing for anyone’s life except his own family (who were safely in a nice hotel downtown). I’ve been in a ton of underground venues, some dodgier than others, but never ever seen anything approaching the level of disdain for the lives of venue…
