“None of us want to destroy Las Vegas. We don’t want a lawsuit

Has any major corporation done even a pseudo-quantitative look at the ROI from a SB ad? I know they go for $4 mill or so (or used to), so does a company recognize a >$4 mill bump in revenue in the weeks after the ad drops? My guess would be no, esp. for well-established brands like Bud Light and FedEx who don’t really

Legal question — if that fallen door had injured someone, who would have been liable? Boeing? Alaska Air? Spirit Aero? FAA?  Who gets blamed when airplane parts fall from the sky?

Is that him and his “hey! Up here!” look from the drivers seat in the top pic? Also a great shot of the minivan girl rolling her window down in a “wait a minute, that’s not normal” look to her.

No side mirrors, eh? Are they physically required, or can automakers resort to cameras for this function?

From the article (accurate or not):

Why wouldn’t they design these plugs to be shaped in an angled way (say, sides 45 degrees inward on the outer side) that would preclude its passage outward? Since the pressure force is all outward-directed, isn’t this just Engineering 101? Or did this somehow fail despite such a design?

Been a few times Dahn Undah. They do NOT mess around with speeding (or cell phone use while driving); they have networks of remote cameras set up to catch both, and will ticket you for 2km/over. They dont stop you via patrol car; they simply snap the license plate and send the fine in the mail to the car’s owner. You

This was my thought.  Great program, great use of EV tech, but well over $300K per doesn’t only sound slightly absurd, but at least 2x (if not 3x) the expected cost per bus.

^^^This. First of all, payment by check nowadays seems super-sketch. Secondly, yeah, I’m waiting until it clears and then add on a few extra days just in case. WhoTF pays back any “overage” before they know if the first check is legit? I did not realize people could be so obtuse.

Excluding the one Jeep Patroit sold in 20223

You can street park a car for FIVE years and the city doesn’t tow it? Is there no limit to how long a clearly-abandoned car can be on a SF street? That’s absurd.

This is so stupid. We’re never sending a human to Mars. Never. It would be a one-way (thus, suicidal) trip, and people unstable enough to be suicidal aren’t making it through Pilot School.

A new three-liter Supra will run you near as makes no difference $60,000

This implies that the second the cops shut down their chase, the perp resorts to the speed limit and stopping at reds. From articles I’ve read (since I have no personal experience), this is never the case. The guy just keeps driving crazy, rollers or no rollers in his mirror.

I’m not sure I’m buying into the “aw, he didn’t deserve to die” message here. He went north of 100 mph, blew red lights, broke myriad laws. As the yoots say, FAFO.

100 minutes parked, in very cold or very hot weather, to charge a car is an absolute no-go for anyone with kids aged 2 < x <12 y.o. Simply not feasible to sell these as road trip vehicles if this stays the status quo.

It’s marketing a ginormous E-truck; ginormous truck folks tend to skew as pro-oil/gas (and other environmentally non-friendly things), while E-vehicle buyers tend to be eco-conscious and thus tend to eschew ginormous trucks.
