yes, if command start is installed ALWAYS Disconnect the battery. I have seen cars auto-start themselves (albeit usually a nearby user on the same frequency - my neighbour used to start my car all the time when she went out for groceries.)

the problem being if that system that routinely checked for the key, died during transit, then your car stops moving on a highway creating a huge danger for everyone. The current system of only checking during startup means your car is in a safe place to be deactivated and much more safe..
