I think some of the spasmodic pacing is down to the budget, both time and monetary. Rodriguez was trying to use as few scenes as possible so there’s bits where it would’ve benefited from a linking scene or 2 where it didn’t get one.

The character was already built on a dichotomy. A four-way split between being a naive teenage girl, a weapon of war, a motorballer and a hunter-warrior might’ve been a bit much, lol.
