I worked at an LSP in one team, worked my way from junior to senior over 3 years and then, when the team got a new manager in he managed to convince people further up to let him expand the team and he took on juniors at the same pay as me and other higher grades on somewhat more.

Workers, plural. Almost no physical products produced these days are simple enough for one person to take them from conception to the end user. Like you said capitalism is a driving force but it doesn’t literally make anything, it just creates an environment that prioritises people making things that make them money.
