I think we can all agree that it’s silly to base your opinion of a movie on the critical consensus. Likewise, it’s also silly to say “90+% of professional critics are wrong, this movie is an objective failure, and if you like it your opinion is invalid.”

This is why I truly don’t understand the “The Last Jedi is objectively bad and if you like it you’re an idiot and don’t know anything about movies” argument. It got pretty universal critical acclaim.

I feel like Shaun of the Dead is the most famous of the three, but Hot Fuzz is secretly the best.

ITT: Lots of whisky snobs letting you know that THEIR taste is better than yours.

Democrats could have gained control of both houses, won every key governor race, and hit the Mega Millions and Trump would still claim victory.

I can’t wait for Justin and Griffin McElroy to make an inevitable Monster Factory for this game.

How excited is Kirk right now?

I love Donna. Easily my second favorite companion.

I’m not stupid enough to think that you’re implying she was literally trying to turn into a a time traveling alien who can change their appearance when they die. Clara isn’t that stupid either. They were together so long that they both picked up some of each other’s good and bad traits, and she ended up taking her own

The bit where River suddenly realizes that the old Scot she’s been hanging out with for the past few hours is actually the Doctor is one of my favorite scenes in the entire show.

“The Empty Child.” It still ranks in my top 5 stories.

I’ll give you that second sentence, but Donna might have been the pluckiest of all of Ten’s companions. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

I agree, her introduction in series 7B was pretty weak, and she was fairly bland for her first few episodes. I’m glad they kept her around though, because the character she turned into is my favorite New Who companion, and I love the relationship between her and the Twelfth Doctor!

I don’t think it’s an argument, more like a conversation between fans. I’ve said a couple of times you’re entitled to your opinion. No need to get defensive.

Trying to emulate what the Doctor would do in a tense situation does not mean she is “so obsessed that she tries to literally become the Doctor.” It means the Doctor is really good at what he does and she should look to his example. There’s at least one instance of Rose doing the same thing.

This is such a bizarre misreading of her story. How is the first companion in New Who to have never been a full time resident of the TARDIS, who had a job, boyfriend and life outside of the Doctor, more obsessed with him than Rose? Or Martha? Or Amy?

If that’s your argument, then what’s the problem with Clara? She was the longest serving companion. But man, Rose? Rose is the only companion that actually regresses. She goes from strong, independent, working class audience surrogate to nothing more than lovesick obsessive fan girl.

I really don’t agree with that, especially in regards to Clara. She certainly started out that way, but by series 8 she was a fully fleshed out character in her own right, with her own strengths, flaws and ambitions, and the most fully fleshed out character arc for any New Who companion.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I’d like to point out that Clara is actually my favorite companion. She has the most growth out of any companion in New Who, and a fantastic character arc that ultimately ends in tragedy and gives us the best episode of the entire show, “Heaven Sent.” There were a lot of criticisms

If I mention Elder Scrolls to my mother she’ll think I’m talking about the Dead Sea Scrolls probably. If I mention Skyrim, she instantly knows it’s that video game where you fight dragons.
