Dennis Potter’s accepted brilliance seems to come in cycles. I recall he experienced a sort of rediscovering about a decade or so ago, and then a decade before that. I guess every 10 years, we as a culture feel it’s time, once again, to take another sampling of what Potter had to offer. If you’ve never seen the

As a young boy in the eighties I sat up late and watched this and it scared the everloving shit out of me. Rentaghost it was not.

Forgive me for playing the Devil’s Advocate but if the world they live in is a world where magic evidently exists and affects reality in a very physical and real way. Then if you were to take a reasonable utilitarian approach, the sacrifice would have actually been quite ethical. The life of this one girl would

Oh I agree. This group is one of many that tries to fill the gaps in the system. Unfortunately government programs that help the sick, poor, underprivileged, and unfortunate are always under attack here. The people who claim to be of the highest moral character have no problem walking on the backs of the lower class.

I may be in the minority here, I’m not sure, but I think the inclusion of Batman in the periphery of the Suicide Squad actually makes the movie (and the general concept) a lot more interesting. I like the idea that Batman is around but not a major mover of plot in the film.

Well wouldja lookit that. Turns out graphics aren’t as important as gameplay. Strange times.

Which games do you want coverage of that we’re missing? We cover tons, but there are always tons more. Just in the last 24 hours or so we’ve had impressions, tips and/or video of Splatoon, Witcher 3, Life is Strange Episode 3, Heroes of the Storm, League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Xenoblade X, Order of Battle:

More in the States than you would think. Things have changed some due to healthcare reform. In the past though many freelancers couldn’t afford health insurance. One serious illness could destroy them financially.

Can’t wait to see the Doof Warrior cosplay — he’s the Boba Fett for a new generation!

R is a recommendation that audiences be minimum 17 to attend without parental accompaniment, but some states have laws making it a requirement and even increasing the age to 18. The MPAA has no legal ability to enforce its ratings, so as long as there’s no state/local law backing them, movie theatres can admit anyone

This is going to be so far downthread that no one is going to see but, but what the hell. My favorite review quote, from Anthony Lane at The New Yorker:

I laughed in delight, in glee, in complete disbelief that I was seeing what I was actually seeing—multiple times. There were moments my husband and I just looked at each other and silently asked, “Did you just watch what I think *I* watched?”

Also not mentioned in this article: it’s R-rated, which is something studios almost NEVER allow on big budget action movies any more because it limits the potential box office.

“Plus who hires a lead actress, in an action movie, that is older then 30?”

Max was a badass. Furiosa was a bad ass. Neither of them are less badass due to the presence of the other, and if anything their badassery is augmented by the support. I’m glad other people are realizing that Max wasn’t a sidekick just because he didn’t do every single thing in the movie.

I brought my 12 year old daughter to see the movie with me. Now, some people might faint from the vapors of a parent bringing a 12 year old to an R rated movie. However, that’s not the point of this post...or something I’m particularly worried about defending. No, the point is when the credits started, the first

Whatever the reason, this movie is shiny and chrome.

For the Emperor!
Wait, this isn't a Terminator Space Marine? Are you sure about that?
