Dad Talk:   Now is the time for the Delta 88 and Cutlass Ciera to make a return - we need decent high-value-over-time cars that people don’t hate, but aren’t bloated out to the $1000 car payment situation. People won’t buy/drive tin-can tiny econoboxes - and they don’t need whales - they need decent, cheap, roomy and r

Turns out public companies are hood rich-and always have been.

It’s true the US economy is doing very well right now and recovered from pandemic issues much better and faster than others with the miraculous soft landing almost nobody thought was possible.

Automakers in the US sold 16 million automobiles in 1986. They will sell approx 16 million in 2024. The population also grew by 40% since 1986.

It’s the only economy that’s not on the brink of collapse right now.

As the saying goes - “you can milk a cow everyday, but you can only bleed it once”.

Without the beautiful Yamaha V6 we didn’t really miss much here.

The gap between people who actually need AWD and the people who think they need AWD is far larger than it should be.

Indeed. I’ve only had two four wheel drive vehicles: an Isuzu Rodeo (4WD manual) and my Subaru (AWD).

I’ve said this before but I wish I could transport conservatives back to their vaunted golden age of unrestricted emissions and giant v-8s and see how long it takes before they choke on the fumes.

Your first one reminded me of one I used to hear all the time: “I (or someone I know talking down at the coffee shop) wouldn’t have survived my accident if I’d (they’d) been wearing their seat belt.”

Check out the YouTube page, “Just rolled in”, more people than you can image pour the wrong fluid into an engine.

Hearing someone say “V4" will ALWAYS be painful.

Honestly, most of the dumbest stuff I’ve ever heard about cars comes from enthusiasts and is best summed up as “there’s only one way to enjoy cars, and that’s my way.”

The worst thing is these are otherwise very intelligent people! They are successful accountants who just walk onto the same used lot and drive out the cheapest thing the meets their needs, and shit like this happens! A few years ago one of them bought a 2 year old Sentra and the battery crapped out like a year into

And for those wondering: No, the transmission had not been replaced yet. It crapped out like a month after they bought it. I told them they don’t have to run *every* car decision they make past me. They just need to at least google it and see if there was a class action lawsuit.

I still hear people complain about how cars used to be safer because they used more steel. A lot less often than I heard that in 90s, but it still leaves me dumbfounded every so often. They’re not even all boomers, either.

A+ Archer reference.

Carburetors is better then all that fancy computer controlled nonsense.”

I absolutely despise German cars and the reliability issues they come with. But someone took nice care of this car and if I had to... sure. Why not. NP.
