There are plenty of novelty stickers for just such purpose: missiles, tacks, smoke screen, passenger eject, warp speed, lasers, etc. (I’ll order myself some eventually)

I see ads in my area frequently with palm trees in the background, which do not grow here.

My #1 peeve. Only a few photos, little/no text description of basic features. FB doesn’t charge by the photo or the word...

He’s just alright* with me.

Bingo. Health care, insurance, “long-term care” etc. It’s all designed to hoover up the money of middle and working class people, usually when they’re at a low point. Miss one payment, miss paying a fine, miss some time from work because you couldn’t work, things can go downhill really really fast, even if you think

Make it illegal for dealerships to do much of the sh*t they do.

I’ve spent a lot of time learning about personal finance and I’m naturally very frugal. That said, I’m less inclined than I used to be about financial-shaming people. The deck is usually stacked, there’s a power imbalance, and a car purchase is usually not a discretionary luxury purchase for most people. This comment

‘Tis adorable.

This is why I avoid travel in the south and podunk places too far off main roads. Me and a friend got pulled over in rural Virginia for suspicion of DWB in a car with DC plates. We were on the way somewhere else, and he wanted to swing by to see if a college buddy and his wife were home. We passed the cop who had

In the early 90's post college I moved to an uppity town (where I still live) that can be too precious sometimes, and has a lot of narcs we now call Karens.

I saw a 4th Gen Camry ute on 395 in Arlington/Alexandria VA a year or so ago.

I’d have tried to enhance the aesthetics, but I actually admire that they managed to fit a functional roll-down rear window. I wonder what the doner was? I sort of like this thing. The Smyth Ute conversion kits are nice, but I wish they were made for more reliable doner cars (not VW or Stellantis/FCA).

In the early 90's I moved to within an easy bike ride of Gravelly Point park at the end of DCA, a well known plane-spotting location along a well-used bike/walk trail and the perfect spot to take a break. Weekday arrivals were typically busy around dinner hours, and being a smaller, commuter-ish airport, the MD80's

Well now the brain worms make sense.

My understanding was Tammy was heavily involved in the biz, was on NADA board, politically connected, on TV a lot, etc., but then dad & the bros cut her out.

I was thinking about this recently. My 2006 Mazda3 was something like $22.5 new, which comes in around $35k today. The cars today I’d be shopping for are right about in that price range. The problem today is people don’t align their expectations with their finances.

.. after model year 2025.

Exactly. The Mirage today is not in the same class as the Mirage then, which competed with Civic, Corolla, Sentra, Escort and even looked a lot like a then Protege. I had a rental Mirage around that time and thought it decent and easy to live with.
