The device was all about Jimmy and Gretchen making it up on the spot, so those are the types of historical inaccuracies you might be expected to find in an improvised fantastical backstory.

I’m not going to give a laundry list of specific things that didn’t make sense about this movie, though there were plenty. My biggest complain was that it was just boring. I didn’t care about any of these characters or what they were doing.
I remember that one, but after watching I realized I was conflating it with this one:
From Star Witness:
I take it you’ve never tried to buy razor blades at a Walgreens. They are usually in a locked case which you have to track down somebody to open, and given there’s only like 2 overworked people in the entire store it can be a real PITA to find somebody available. And then when they do open the case it’s like $25 for 8…
That’s the thing - they don’t have to do topical stuff. Throughout most of the run of the show, topical stuff lived in Weekend Update, and some weeks they had a political sketch. But the bread and butter of the show has always been recurring characters and weird one off sketches. Just because Trump and the GOP are…
The Gong Show! What ever happened to that? I think it needs a revival. What’s Chuck Barris up to these days?
I don’t know anything about Jodie Whittaker, but I’m excited for her arrival on Dr Who if only because it means Peter Capaldi’s run is over. I get that some people like him but his shtick got old for me pretty fast.
I see Phish “won” its first round matchup, but then was eliminated, which is probably about right. I love Phish more than any other band in the world, but I get people’s attitude towards their fanbase. It’s got some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and also a lot of the worst. Here’s a comment I once saw made by…
Do you think those soldiers who visit graves of their fallen brothers remain that stoic about it? A dozen men died in the effort to save his life and his reaction is supposed to be “Well, that happened.”
I don’t know. Will it matter among his hardcore base? Certainly not. Will it matter among the swing voters who just didn’t like Hillary or whatever? Maybe it will. Trump won several key states by some pretty thin margins. If that tape convinces even 2% of his voters in PA, WI, FL, MI, that he is, in fact, a racist…
He should be rich, what with all the residuals from that Shazam movie.
I get why Vergara has the right to tell her ex that he can’t implant embryos from her in another woman. Is the inverse true? Would (or should) she have the right to implant them in herself without his consent?
Eh...it’s alright. I’ve only read the first one, and I’m sure I’ll get around to the rest, but like all big Sanderson novels it drags on and on and on during the middle third. He’s great at worldbuilding, terrible at pacing.
Whose side am I supposed to be on in this one? The racist artist, or the harassing mob?
Cloud Cult has two “visual artists” as credited band members who paint live onstage.
My friend had an extra ticket to Wilco’s show at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC in late September of 2001. I had heard of them before but knew absolutely nothing about their music, although she assured me I would dig it. This was coming right on the heels of them being let go by their label over Yankee Hotel Foxtrot,…
I’ve heard the reason you keep lids on, and especially bottle caps, is that they are small and clog up the machinery if they are loose.
Yes. She was a comedian as well, I saw her open for him at least once.
Yeah, Ocean’s 12 was just pointless. They go through all the machinations of the heist only to reveal that they switched backpacks at the beginning of the plot anyway. Why bother?
