I want to get my 540iT to 1 million miles. I don’t know if the engine will do it (the transmission certainly won’t as it is already on its second rebuild), but I have trouble thinking of a daily driver I would replace it with.

As a dad, I can relate.

Volvo is the right answer for an architect.  I thought that was the default car for one.  That or some type of VW sedan.

I think the DME and electronics are going to be the biggest stumbling block. Depends on how many other modules are integrated/looking for the transmission. It’s easy on the E46 and BMW’s of similar years (been involved on a few swaps) since you just tell all of the other modules they are still the same car and only…

I’d have to say that the anti-abortion billboards are worse.  They are all over Florida and don’t even have dad jokes.  

My kids have the full set of F&F licensed HotWheels cars.

It isn’t a super hard job (I did it on my Z3). Hardest part is drilling out the spot welds closer to the wall in the roadster (coupe would be a piece of cake).  I would buy the reinforcement kit from Randy Forbes instead of cutting your own - his kit is worth the price of cutting the reinforcements yourself.

Also, the trunk floor on all Z3's is a major weak spot. My Z3 with a 2.8 was torn, can’t imagine any of them with a more powerful engine holding up. So plan to add $3k+ ($1k if you can weld) to the price of any of them if you plan to drive it like it should be driven.

In Central Florida, a 911 just doesn’t look exotic and is very common here.  Chip is looking for something a little more unique. 

My wife and oldest son (6) cannot watch the trailer for this movie without some emotional outburst (ranging from mild sad face to full on tears). Dead homeless veteran who is caring for the dog would send them into a week’s long depression!  

I was trying to figure out if a 911 would qualify as an exotic.  It is rear engine, has enough power, and looks aggressive enough.  However, they are VERY common, especially in Central Florida.  

For years we ate steak-umms until they came out with those chopped meat rolls that you fry up and they break apart into something that more resembles a philly cheese steak.  Now I want on of those freezer meat philly cheese steaks!
