Splats are certainly important, but the point of my comment is that they’re not the most important thing. Always go for a kill when you’re in a confrontation or when you’re sufficiently inked and need to hold back their progress. But if there’s terrain to be inked, don’t chase kills in the center of the map when you

The sentiment in this article really applies to collecting in general. I see so many “Oh, I’m addicted” posts and borderline calls for help on places like the amiibo subreddit, when in reality, this is just a fun hobby that demands a bit of self-control. I mean, I get it. I’ve been collecting Star Wars, Nintendo, and

SW-7740-1083-9526, btw. Let’s run some salmon and war on some turf.

That’s the majority of my matches, though somehow without even the high kill count. Oh, you scored 400 and killed 3 people. Were you literally inking walls and the same patch of floor for the entire match? I bet you were!

Oh god, Salmon Run. Honestly, it’s the reason I bought the game, and it’s also turned out to be the most frustrating mode. The first night (launch night), it was amazing. Win, after win, after win. Holy shit, yes, give me more. Now, it’s like someone flipped a switch, and it’s just a constant stream of losses with a

Totally agree. Splatting is definitely important, but a team of randos with basically no communication would be so much more organized if everyone followed a basic model of “Splat while inking”. Having a pro-fps-level splatter on a team is amazing, but then everyone needs to first even be able to recognize that this

It’s tough, though, because those kills could translate into an easier time inking territory. Can’t lay down ink if you’re constantly being thrown back to the spawn, after all. It’s a balance, and someone with high kills is definitely contributing to a team that sees what they’re doing and then adjusts accordingly.

Haha, thanks. Just a temp username for this very occasion.

As far as Splatoon is concerned, it’s really not that hard, though 8 out of 10 of my random groups can’t get it through their damn heads - ink the terrain. Ink the terrain. Stop going for kills...ink the terrain. Inked terrain is yours, you own it, and it makes the opponent unable to traverse said terrain easily.
