Put a 2” lift on it and you can even drive it off road. Even better if it’s an AWD sienna and you put KO2s on, but that’s not necessary. 2” gives it all the clearance of a crossover and doesn’t really affect handling as far as I can tell.

Yeah I think these posts used to be an honest attempt to help people, but they have devolved into an attention competition between the writers.

Updated pic with a couple new cars:

Wow, they have no respect for grass or stacks of tires...

I decided to collect cars that had been the fastest production car when they were released. I thought this would be pretty simple but actually became extremely complex. Does the Hennessey Elise (I mean Venom) count? How many cars does it take to qualify as production? Do I go with just test-verified speeds, or

For some “body swap” cars I totally agree - see the Simpson Italia Classic which is basically still a Miata.

The best possible scenario combines technical and competitive interest. Two teams have different technical strengths producing tight competition (fast but unreliable Mclaren in 2005 losing to Renault), or maybe a backmarker team makes a technical breakthrough and suddenly is in competition with top teams (but not

Great! My wife drives a slightly lifted one :-)

An AWD Sienna would be bigger than the Tahoe and Element but better in the snow than the bus or wheelchair van.

Morgan 3 wheeler is way classier. For me it would be a Caterham. I know they are 50-100% more expensive, but that is easily worth it for the classy factor alone. Also they are great on track, while a slingshot would get laughed out of any track day (even if it would probably be fun).

Mercedes didn’t get the team to the top. That honor goes to Ross Brawn who bought a struggling Honda team in 2008, came up with an innovative diffuser, and won the only championship that Brawn GP competed in.

There are other benefits (other than commuting) to connecting villages to a capitol. Take medical care: patients being transferred to the biggest hospital can now go by ambulance instead of helicopter, which will save thousands on every transport.

How about making production cars race Le Mans? In order to prevent ringers, the FIA would pick a random car off a showroom floor, and then the team would have 24h to install a cage, fire system, fuel cell, camber plates, and endurance pads and fluid, all while an official watches. That’s it. Then race it for 24h.

How are the 3 youtubers going to hold him accountable? By standing on the sideline and saying “yep that looked pretty fast”...?

Thanks for an interesting write up Tom! Despite the price, I’m sure you and your wife are glad that these modded vehicles exist!

I bought a Lemons-veteran E30 racecar. Of course it needs more work than I expected and is torn down right now. On the plus side, I’ve discovered that it has the good motor (2.5i) being run by the wrong ecu so if I have even more time I can switch the ecu and wiring and gain 50 horsepower without touching the motor.

David this is really interesting but your mobile website is waaaay too crashy to do a story this long with this many pictures and ads. I got the safari error “an error repeatedly occurred on the page” at least 10 times before I gave up reading. I still don’t know how you finally managed to get a pass...

I’ve gotten into track days since having kids and while it isn’t easy, it is doable with a supportive partner. I shoot for 4 days a year. At that rate I won’t ever be competitive, but I have been able to progress through the HPDE levels so I’ll be ready to race once the kids are in high school.

This is good. I always thought the crosstour was a great design but 2 sizes too big. It looked great in photos but when I saw one...

To be fair, all cars are getting heavy, overcomplicated, and difficult to repair. The bigger problem is that BMW stopped caring about driver engagement on anything except a couple extremely limited models. The 325is used to be a better sports car than 99% of sports cars. But now even their standard M cars are numb and
