It’s fine to try to push upmarket but they shouldn’t have abandoned their Mazdaspeed fans at the same time. Car companies often work really hard to build an enthusiast base (see Hyundai right now) that will be loyal and act as ambassadors to promote their more basic cars to friends and family. Seemed to work well for M

I’ve got a beater truck like you (02 Ranger), but it’s also a 4x4 which is perfect for exploring all the forest roads around me. That’s not something you are supposed to do in a rental or in a convertible with a trailer.

I’ll file this under “things that only happen to people worth 150 Million.”

I’m with you. I’m not ready for my “fun” car to be electric, but I’d love to get an EV for commuting, off-roading, and towing. The other day I actually started calculating which racetracks are in range of a Rivian, assuming 40-50% range reduction pulling a trailer. There are enough, and even more where I would only

I hope they sell those to consumers with the adjustable air suspension from the truck.

Why put big brakes on if they aren’t meant to be used on track?

Wait... Which one got dropped in acid?

I get 23 mpg out of my 2002 ranger. Tacos are about the same size. Given how much better Toyota engine mileage was back then, I’d believe 25.

I know, I’m not saying I want a manual in an EV. I’m saying I want a manual in my hot hatch. We know EVs can be fast, and I’m sure they can be fun also. I just don’t think they will ever offer the same level of involvement as an old-school manual transmission.

I love sevens. I plan to build a Birkin kit in a couple years. But I don’t understand the appeal of this, or a Donkervoort for that matter. If I’m gonna have a simple 60s go-kart, I want it to look like a simple 60s go-kart, not an insectoid alien.

I like hot hatches, but I don’t want an electric one. I’d like to keep my manual transmission for a little while longer, thanks.

Also, the car had a roll cage (ok for safety) but also a modified fixed wing and a modified exhaust. So it wasn’t a production Chiron and wasn’t what the production Super Sport will be. The record is for an unmodified production car, so Koenigsegg just took a customer car and drove it without any mods.

Hmm. Guinness or not, I wouldn’t say they have broken any records. But they did show that this platform (and their special tires) are capable of going very fast. So if they say that this car is limited to 290 or 301 or something, I’d be inclined to believe that it can do that.

The flex is a cool wagon with AWD but not the same as this. Vans have more interior space and easier access with the sliding doors. This also looks like it will have better off-road chops with a higher ride height. It better be decent off-road if they are calling it an FJ.

Tires are expensive but as bad as you say. You’d have to be drifting an exotic with $500/ea tires in order to spend $2K/day.

Screw insurance fraud, this is all the reason I need to have a dash cam.

I need to do this some time. I’ve now spent 6 years living within a block of 66, both in Chicago and now in Flagstaff Arizona. My favorite Flagstaff brewery is called Mother Road. I loved reading the Grapes of Wrath.

BMW drivers have more cash. Either they don’t use insurance shopping websites (as Alanis theorized) or they don’t have to report their tickets because they lawyered out of them.

Car Guru I appreciate the opinions but I have to disagree on a couple points. First, the MK4 will always be the classic Golf shape IMO. The swoopy U grille and weird taillights on the 5 never did it for me.
