The most important safety: the human brain. That’s what failed here.

Different. I have never spent hours and hours practicing turning the stove on and off safely.

DING! This is precisely what goes on.

“series of bad decisions that lead to it.”

Brain farts to happen, but far more often than not, it’s not people who are usually on and just had one brain fart, but people who float along like a bouy on the wave that do this stuff.

Yep. My training as an LEO in a very pro-gun control state was minimal compared to my concealed carry training in a very anti-gun control state.

“Stay the fuck away from guns”

“Maybe like how we have to go to accredited driving schools, and take a test and get a license before we can drive a car?”

This wasn’t a civilian who was the shooter.

In some states you can be denied housing for owning a gun.

As a former LEO, both cops and civvies do this. All it takes is not paying attention, being sleepy, being drunk, etc.

I’ve handled guns since I was four* and never had an accidental discharge. (*With direct supervision).

“You seem sort of intelligent. Maybe you’re a fluke? Gun people aren’t smart.”
