I'm glad the MCU did right by Parker. I don't get why so many AV Club writers seem to have such a personal problem with him. One of them tweeted about what a cliche he was, and they expressed this point using a reference to Pride & Prejudice, maybe the most pedestrian and whitewashed allusion possible.

I wish AV Club would hire some writers who actually seemed to enjoy the source material. I get it, you majored in literature, but you can still enjoy a movie about superheroes without needed to justify it, or act like it's beneath you. Isn't it possible to be critical about entertainment without having to act superior…
