I am a massive fan of the franchise, controversial ending of the previous trilogy irrespective. This game has been a day one for me since announcement. Started the Play First trial on Friday and have gone as far as you can with the narrative. I haven’t tried multiplayer so on that front I cannot comment. Know that

I was on the fence but the trial sold me too. At first I almost bailed because yes, the models and animation are bad and I have no desire to bang anyone in the game. That being said I really loved the gameplay, which is much closer to part 1, THE BEST MASS EFFECT OUT OF ALL OF THEM END OF DISCUSSION. The beginning

So I was pretty meh on it because the animation issues seemed like it’d bug the crap out of me. Combat seemed solid in trailers but conversations just didn’t seem right. So I pitched in 5 bucks into EA access to try out the demo. Maybe my impressions from a dude who loved the hell out of ME1-3 getting about 100-150

Spike,

The game starts with a fairly cold start (no cryo sleep pun intended), but that was the case with the first mass effect and all of the main characters.

On PC the frostbite engine renders great, IMO. Shadows, god rays, various texture properties, etc. As many have mentioned, some of the facial animations are

Yes, but only because a friend already did the pre-ordering for me in return for help with something I’d’ve helped with anyway and I’m sure it’s not gonna be so bad that I won’t even find it worth the 0$ I’m paying for it.

Also, let’s be real: there is no way that it’s gonna be below average.

Played the trial highly recommend. Seriously it’s ducking amazing.

I’m still getting it. I think people who are criticizing Andromeda right now are looking at the series with a set of rose colored nostalgia glasses. Either that or they have an Axe to Grind with the series still over Mass Effect 3.

I’ll be getting it. I want to experience it for myself as a long time fan of Mass Effect. I want to be able to address any issues or criticisms while being able to say I played the game, too. Because I love the original trilogy I’m pretty confident I’ll like Andromeda, but I also feel I have to take early impressions

I put down $5 for the EA access trial, definitely pushed me towards a purchase. Ryder is every bit as compelling as Shepard, and the tiny snippet it gave of the story was enough to keep me interested up to the end. The combat feels like a real improvement over ME3, and the updated dialogue tree is much more immersive

I was very apathetic. After the trial however I can’t wait as even with the small grievances the characters and the story seem as good as ever.

I pre-ordered a month or so ago, and honestly nothing I’ve seen has changed my mind about that. I played the full 10 hours of the Origin Access trial, about 6 in single and the rest in multi and I had a lot of fun in both. Maybe it’s not ME2, but from what I’ve seen it is at least as good as ME3 which is still one of

I’ve only played a few hours so far. It’s alright. Really does have a ME1 vibe, where it feels likes it is building up rather than dropping you into action (like ME 2/3). Waiting for reviews is the most pragmatic option.

P.S. I bought it because I had spare money. I probably shouldn’t have since I am hopping in

I’m on board. What tipped me over was more ME and some of the (mostly) positive things I’ve read (such as what Patricia wrote the other day in her “Ovverwhelmed” article).

Exactly. People tell you, ‘All the extra stuff is optional, just don’t do it!’ but optional stuff is part of the experience for me! I’m kind of a completionist, I like to have all the boxes checked and all of the non-multiplayer percentages at 100% and DA:I was absolutely brutal to me in that respect. I hear the

Had the thing preordered for a while, finished playing the 10 hour trial last night. In short, despite the well deserved animation criticisms I’m still excited about playing the full version come tomorrow (unlocking it early via Korean VPN at 3pm GMT).

I don’t actually think it seems that bad. Most complaints I’ve heard revolve around the player models not being especially beautiful and the dialogue animation being stiff/bad. These are not huge factors for me. I’m old enough to have played games where animation wasn’t even really a thing.

Just do what any thoughtful person would do - wait for reviews, then decide.

I’m getting it, partly due to loving Mass Effect and partely because the multiplayer in 3 was something I sunk an completely unacceptable amount of time into. I have one friend in the UK who is for sure getting it and one locally who is going to try their damnest, so that’s two members of the squad I want to build

I was on the fence too, but I played 10 hours of the demo on Origin and it sold me. The game IS glitchy and the animations are bad (as well as the rigging of the characters), and the dialogue is lackluster, and the music is forgettable... but the combat is good, the story is interesting enough, the exploration content

I’m getting it. The news has definitely put me off, but even a bad Bioware game is worth the money to me. Even if it’s not as good as the previous 3 games, I still can’t miss out on the attempt. It’s got to be good for at least a playthrough.

DA:O, all 3 mass effects and even DA2, I replayed all of them multiple times.
