@FearfulInsomniac: It was the psychological meaning and storyline that made/makes Silent Hill 2 so loved. While the scares were not present like the first game (albeit Pyramid Head was a great inclusion and quite scary) the overall story of not just protagonist, but the town itself was laid bare for all to see.

Silent Hill always get a nod from me. Absolutely love that series and up through 3 it was quite scary.
