I found Malcolm was an abusive asshole to Inara, Kaylee came off as a quirky woman who didn't want to be "bossy" or "mean" so she just kinda stood in the back and acted "cute", Zoe was pretty unsympathetic to someone like Saffron (before she found out Saffron was a spy, but before than she just shrugged off the idea
