You know that an operation is truly awful when a Trump administration official leaks information to prevent it from happening.

If we had ranked voting we would never have “spoilers” but people could vote for their first choice (and if they aren’t from the main party, that’s fine) and then rank the democrat as their second choice; thereby not ever ensuring the republicans benefit from it.

Right with you. We’re stuck here with Americans going to fight a war that’s old enough to goddamn vote. That’s how old the remains of OIF/OEF/OIR or whatever they’re called now are.

I say this as a former Army officer, but war is too cheap now. With drones, cruise missiles, and near impenetrable tanks, it’s just dollars down the hole. As Robert E. Lee said “It is well that war is so terrible, otherwise we should grow too fond of it.” We’ve made war cheap and cheapened lives in the end.
