Things are starting to change. Slowly but surely. Every man who speaks out about his abuse is one more voice to add to the chorus. We need to be better when it comes to encouraging men to share their stories. Our culture is so obsessed with this outdated idea of manliness.

The notion that adult children owe their parents anything other than regarding them openly and honestly is an absurd anachronism that should be dead by now. Children don’t choose to be born. They don’t choose their blood relatives. People don’t owe shit for a situation they didn’t accept or create.

The scary thing is that I don’t think the mother even *realizes* it’s against his best interests. She’s so up in her feelings about things that she legitimately doesn’t think the issues that he’s brought up are actual issues.

For real. I honestly don’t think kids owe their parents much, if anything. Why on earth would you bring a child into the world, and then vote AGAINST that child’s best interests, and still expect your child to accommodate you? Being the bigger person is great and all, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit there and

I’m pretty sure that the mere mention of reparations will send 20k white people into cardiac arrest.

I have so much respect for the writers not identifying as queer, and trying to write an inclusive story anyway, admitting their mistakes, and being so incredibly open about things.

American slavery was noticeably different than the slavery practiced throughout history. Yes, Africans sold other Africans into slavery at the hands of Europeans...but they had no idea the kind of slavery they were selling them into.

The system that was in place in Africa pre-european contact was a vastly different system than the one Europeans use. It’s disingenuous to do the whole pointing fingers “They did it first bullshit.”

True story, I dated a guy who lived down the street from the ice cream truck depot in the West Village. Around 5pm, every summer evening, they all roll out as an adorably coordinated sugar-fueled cheer army. The jingles were always delightful because even though they were loud, they just sound like happiness.

Maybe the caller made the mistake of giving an accurate description of the suspect to the dispatcher: “They’re... white and they are waving knives”

Those aren’t cops on trial for shooting someone. Cops testifying in a normal case/collar is a different entity. cops in a court casse where THEY are on trial.. pretty much every one of them is likely dirty to begin with.

I seem to recall truckfuls of adults with guns crashing a 9 year olds birthday party and threatening the party goers with said guns and hate speech.

Sounds like they don’t know yet, so they invented a code phrase in “hazard information” to cover their asses while they get their story straight.

But... there really are gay elephants.
