Worst idea ever to put a rabbit on an airplane. The noise, vibrations and pressure changes would probably stress the hell out of that thing. I’d be surprised if a rabbit survived a transatlantic flight, not that it died from one.

No shit. My theory is if you wouldn’t fly down there why would you risk your pet?

My comfort animal is a 20 foot crocodile. I never have any problem from anyone after I explain just how special he is to me. A few have started to raise an objection but they soon find they don’t have a leg to stand on.

Potentially interesting: on a per pet transported basis, United is the least safe airline with 2.37 pet deaths per 10,000 animals transported (per he BBC article on this matter). The increase over other airlines is probably due to their reduced restrictions though (I.E. United actually allows snub-nosed dogs and cats

It looks like they’ve been out of business for few years now, but I’m sure there a few other companies that do this. It was a commercial airliner that transported pets in the main cabin. Think rows of crates instead of seats, ear scratchs instead of peanuts.

Pressurized, but not heated or insulated for sound. So not as warm as the passenger compartment, but not as cold as outside. Most animals in a secure crate with some warm bedding won’t be bothered by the temps. However the noise and motions would be incredibly stress inducing, as would the pressure changes.

I’m no vet,

Yeah I have done the same but we got a doctors note for my wife’s anxiety. I would never put a dog in the cargo hold.

I purchased a service dog vest on amazon a few years back and some patches and just take my dog with me on the flight. >:D I just tell them he is a traumatic stress dog. What are they going to do, question him? It even came with all the official ID cards.

What if the animal can die from a heart attack from just plain being fuckin’ scared?

It’s the cargo hold. There’s no air conditioning - it’s freezing cold! No one checks on them to see if they’re even breathing, much less to feed them or give them water. I would NEVER ship my dog as cargo - that’s insane.

A big part of that has less to do with the aircraft than it does ramp operations at airports. The kennels can potentially be left outside on the tarmac or in a non-climate controlled cargo facility for an extended period of time without sufficient cooling or airflow. In fact, several airlines refuse to take animals in

Yes, the cargo area is pressurized, but that doesn’t mean it is heated.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

I don’t believe that the true numbers of animals that die from airline flights is reported. It may be agreed-upon silence for settlements, but I’ve heard so many nightmare death stories that I really just wouldn’t trust an airline with a live animal in the cargo-hold.

106 year old from the Bronx named Danny Almonte took home the male title

That is exactly how I got hit in the only accident I’ve been in. Two left turn lanes. The inside one is turn only. The other turns or goes straight. Someone went straight from the inside lane.

Like sand through the hourglass...

Drew has referenced Maryland drivers sucking on multiple occasions, and as a frequent visitor to the area, I’ve noticed it, too — I am more nervous driving on the Balt-Wash Parkway than in other places, and I’ve driven in Europe, Manhattan, LA, and Boston, and I live in crazy-ass Chicago, home of some rue-ass
