Blame pedestrian impact requirements. By lifting the hoodline just an inch or two for the required crumple space, it makes all the body panels higher, and then 15 or 16 inch wheels look too small, so they upsize the wheels, too. Look it up. Many design elements we hate are a by-product of regulations.

Yay you replaced the knobs I could reach for and feel with something that requires me to take my eyes off the road even to turn on my defroster, great job guys. Looking at the road is really overrated I guess.

Touch screen everything. While it looks pretty and all, it’s not the best way to interact with the vehicle. I will say some function can be move to the screen, but some function should still have physical interaction.

Giant fake grilles. I dig the look of a lot of the cars that have them, but it’s still disappointing especially when they’re obvious.

I hate this new trend of putting the reverse lights and turn signals on the bottom bumper. My eyes naturally follow the brake lights of the car ahead of me, and putting these down low seems to make it harder to notice them.

I went to the California Automobile Museum last weekend. Some very cool stuff there, ranging from turn-of-the-century steam cars all the way up to a small exhibit on modern electric vehicles, with my first ever real-life view of a GM EV1.
