A few years ago I was looking to replace a Toyota Matrix. In my trips around local dealerships I went to a Nissan dealer, and was poking around things that were compact. The salesman listens to what my priorities are and goes “huh, guys like you are usually looking at trucks.”

I passed on the current Mazda6 as my first ever new car because you couldn’t get any options with a manual. The sales guy told me I was the 3rd person THAT WEEK that walked out because no heated seats/sunroof with the stick.

did you or have you even considered buying this car? I know I prefer sticks, and will probably at some point look for a G70 with a stick once prices get acceptable. problem is most of us stick guys don’t think buying new makes sense.

I think one of Tesla’s smartest moves has been selling their cars as a piece of technology. Because we endure absolutely horrendous reliability from “technology” with a shrug. We may complain a bit, but we are generally prepared to accept that our phones and computers will inexplicably stop working periodically. If my

It’s basically a metric of thoughts about the car prior to buying, then how you feel after owning it.

Ugh, I’m starting to doubt my kid’s picking abilities. The 3 year old (“Dash”) said “ooooooh” to the outside, but didn’t really like the inside. Maybe the promise of a swapped Audi in a bright color isn’t met by the dull stock interior, I dunno.

Not sure where “here” is for you, but In Michigan(and other states as well I’m sure) all you need is a VIN and they will issue a title and plate for whatever you brewed up in your meth-shed. No inspection needed.

I used to work with a guy who used starter fluid to un-seize 2 strokes. That was... interesting. One lunch dude built a potato gun and we were thinking, you know, maybe an arcing 50 yards. Nope, over the fucking horizon like a fucking howitzer. Someone must have been puzzled, cause he had a 50 lb sack. Never was sure

Another example of the sum of the parts being less than the parts themselves. The Jeep shell is likely worth something to someone, even if only for the VIN to slap on their Roxor. The 3800/4T65 is worth something to someone with a Iron Duke Fiero. Together, worth nothing.

Wouldn’t it just be simpler to make the numbers/letters the only part of the plate that was reflective?

I know, just imagine how fast they will be when they go grocery shopping like this.

A decent sentiment when picking a car color, a bad sentiment when considering whether or not to wear a mask during a pandemic

If he lives within bike range of a light rail station it’s gotta be Bloomington or south Mpls.

Volvo 240, Mercedes 300D: Could you make it any more obvious how desperately you want people to think you are still a North-Loop hipster even though you have kids are moving to Eagan? Choices, consequences. Just buy the damn minivan. (full disclosure: I bought a 240 when I had my second kid, however this was in 1994

There’s a photo of Elon with his then wife Talulah and Ghislaine

I know I should probably be happy that people are rediscovering the outdoors, but selfishly I just want them to go away again. The dark side of me thinks they’re a bunch of dinguses who wouldn’t go outside until it was literally their last option, and who don’t know etiquette like to pack trash out and not play music

I bike to work (or did in the before times) every day, but I love having my Tacoma for back woods camping. My gf has a Fiat 500 that is much more fun and practical for driving around town.

First off, is that image of a real BMW? It’s not another photoshop done for the ever-expanding grille meme? It’s fucking horrifying.

I think the fundamental difference between a car subscription and an entertainment subscription is that with entertainment you’re paying for something that can change and add content, while with a car you’ve got the content there you’re just being asked to pay for it. It’s the difference between paying to rent a room

Or...you know...they could just make auto high beams, adaptive cruise, adjustable suspension, etc. standard to make consumer feel good about their purchase and increase brand loyalty rather than make them feel like they’re getting nickel and dimed for features that are standard on Hondas, Toyotas, etc. How would you
