this should get you up to speed...technically they are called contra-rotating propellers but I figured I would get a lot of up up down down left ...and so on jokes if I put "contra" in the title.
They are just specially designed blades to increase efficiency and reduce noise, there are two sets though and they counter rotate on each other. This has the effect of reducing torque load on the engine nacelle and increases efficiency further.
