yea it actually makes a lot of sense for her character when you think about it  (she's old and very into cutting things), it's actually a pretty clever detail for the show to think of, I'm impressed.

yea it's kinda bullshit, Caroline is meant to be more assertive than that, it's kind of a bummer to see her getting messed around like this and not doing anything about it.
