They left Pirates! and Adventure with Scientists as it is here in the UK. they often have different trailers for US & UK releases, and sometimes even cut the movies different and not because of the censors. I saw the US trailer of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and it had so many jokes in it that weren't in the UK…

Agreed, i'd never heard of John Carter before the film and had no emotional attachment to it and i really enjoyed the film.

RTA - Good explanation! As an aside, at the standard frame rate of movies, the gap between the frames is a third of the length of time of the frame itself, so for a 90 min movie you actually spend 30 mins sitting in the dark!
