The pressure on some of these kids is so intense. There’s always an unpublicized rash of suicides when college admissions start rolling in when they don’t get into a Harvard, Stanford, MIT...

Same. My parents wouldn’t even let me apply to private or out of state colleges because the application fee was too high.
I hate the rat race. The current obsession around here is mandarin immersion schools and mandarin fluent nannies. A town I lived in had a “soirée” fundraiser for the PUBLIC school system. I thought it was going to be held in the middle school gym with “poker” tables etc, but was held at the Ritz. Husbands bought Tom…
I don’t know. There were a lot of vacancies because of McConnell blocking Obama’s appointments and the Blue Slip courtesy, which is why Reid went nuclear. Now McConnell is ramming them through at an “unpresidented” pace, many of whom (like the President and most recent Supreme Court justice) are unfit to serve.
Trump doesn’t care about judges. McConnell and the Federalist society do, which is why they support him.
Competition with other parents.
These are the high maintenance parents that bully their way (or find a disreputable doc) into getting their kids a “learning disability” exemption to give them a leg up.
They knew. But it was unspoken so they could plead ignorance.
This is how it’s done with the wealthy. Their kids do not get in by their own merit. Usually it’s via large school donations or ostensible scholarships/grants/charity and pulling connections. I’m surprised they used a company to grease wheels. I know people whose parents donated a lump sum $1 million dollars and…
Correct. I think his show is the #1 show on Fox News. Also, the one lesson that he and all the other deplorables have learned from Trump is to never apologize for their heinous actions and just double down.
Pathological liars are so odd. Knew someone who claimed to have co-authored thousands of medical papers although we couldn’t find any evidence through a pubmed search. He also said he had a condition where he couldn’t sleep for 5 straight days and then would crash for 24 hours and he was such an interesting case that…
Why does everyone say they’re moving on to work at Trump’s re-election campaign (Shine, Parscale, Ayers...) is this for Trump to save face or does it have to do with NDAs? Or are they really working there and avoiding the legal morass of the WH?
I’m so curious about this movie. I vividly remember watching a preview of this on some VHS of a different Disney movie and waiting for it to come out but never seeing it.
OMG every once in a while I think about that Pizza Hut program and thought it was all a fever dream. My 2nd grade teacher participated in it. We each got a paper train on the wall and every time we read a book, we would write it on a boxcar to lengthen the train - plus every few books we would get the coupon for the…
I think he’s been coasting off the goodwill from The Office. Extras was ok, but I can’t watch any of his other stuff.
I honestly thought the lead picture was a still from Trapped in the Closet.
Makes sense that those who lived through WWII and the rise of fascism would like to see this country correct course.
I find it oddly refreshing that she announced she wasn’t running on a local news station instead of a 60 Minutes interview or twitter.
I got bronchitis at the end of my pregnancy and it was so bad that I started having back spasms, which I’d never had before. You could actually see my belly move with each spasm. The day it finally stopped, I washed all the baby clothes and sheets. My water broke a few hours later. The sweet relief of an epidural gave…
That’s true. It’s sad it’s come back due to the effectiveness of vaccines combined with fear mongering and ignorance.
