Yeah, he’s said a number of times that, being over 50, it’s increasingly difficult to get and stay in “Drax shape”.

Seeing him in ‘Bladerunner 2049' was what made me stop and say, “Woah, this dude’s actually an actor.” It’s a small but vital performance because it introduces you to this film’s look at replicants, and there’s so much humanity to it.

Dwayne Johnson has taken the opposite path. He tried to do Real Acting earlier in his career with Southland Tales and Pain & Gain. Even in Fast Five, he gives his character a harder edge. Eventually, he decided to give in and fully embody “The Rock” persona that has made him so much money.

He looks like he stole these off Gandhi.

He was so good in his small role in BR 2049. His bulk was evident underneath but wasn’t his defining feature.  Overall a very quiet performance.

I’m a bit surprised at how gushing the reviews for the movie have been. It was generally entertaining, but the first one just seemed much better in pretty much every way. I would have expected the reviewers to be unkind to this one in comparison (“Knives Out 2: bigger, longer, duller”).

It was entertaining enough for a Christmas weekend with nothing good in the theaters. Usually I like to go out to see a Star War or something with my parents but this was year 3 of watching at home.
